Although Dr. Cipullo is from Hialeah, Florida, he considers Ellijay his home where he owned his own practice for many years and still travels in that area for house calls. Dr. Cipullo attended Hialeah High School, Miami-Dade Community College, and the University of Florida where he also attended Vet school. He has completed internships at the National Cancer Institute and the Miami Metro Zoo. Dr. Cipullo is licensed in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and California and works regularly in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida. We are very fortunate to steal him away from his gypsy life and have him with us Tuesday's, Thursday's , Friday's and many Saturday's . Not only do we get his unique experience and vast knowledge of many species, but Dr. Cipullo is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is appreciative, always motivates the employees, and inspires our inquisitive natures by openly inviting questions and never missing an opportunity to teach us things.
Dr. Cipullo sees a variety of patients including dogs, cats, small mammals, such as guinea pigs, gerbils, ferrets, and rabbits, wildlife, reptiles, birds, and zoo animals. Some of his favorite and unusual patients have been Capuchin monkeys, parrots, giraffes, lemurs, sloths, elk cougars, and gorillas.

We are so lucky to have Linda on our team. She has been with AVH since 1995 and currently works part time at the front desk. We would love to have Linda here more but she has another part time job keeping her husband Perry in line. If you know Perry....well you know this could easily be a full time job! Linda and Perry have been married for 30 years and have a 17 year old son Will that loves sports and hunting. To round out their family they also have 3 dogs (Kane, Molly, BIll) and 2 cats (Cletus and Oreo). Linda enjoys the outdoors, crafts and more than anything....mountain dew.
Kelly is our newest team member and does a great job at the front desk. She is a bonafide crazy cat lady and will happily talk about her cats or listen to you talk about yours all day long. Recently from Knoxville, Kelly loves Andrews and the peace and quiet of small town living. She has 5 cats named Mr Wilburs, Feralton, Syd Kitty, Marcy Bear and Pattykins. In her spare time Kelly enjoys reading and well you guessed it....CATS!
Heather originally hails from Detroit, Michigan but moved here from Florida about 14 years ago. Her pride and joy is her daughter Sierra who is currently attending college in Savannah, GA. In addition to her human child, Heather also has a 12 year old Jack Russell furry child named Angel. Heather is a huge Disney fan with the bulk of that addiction being for the one and only Mickey Mouse.
Working in the veterinary field since 2005, Kelsey became a part of our team at AVH in May 2011. Growing up alongside her father’s passion for training companion as well as police dogs, Kelsey learned a love of animals at an early age. Thus, it was only natural for her to pursue a career with animals. After joining our team, she spearheaded our quest to become accredited with the American Animal Hospital Association in 2011. During her time not spent caring for the animals that come to AVH, she provides relief work at the Mountain Emergency Animal Center. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking with her husband Eric and their German Shepherd Luca. After a long day, her feline comrades Callie, Emmy, and Aslon are always at the ready for a snuggle.
Rachel is another example of hard work paying off here at AVH. She started in the kennel in 2011 and after graduating from high school enrolled in both Tri-County Community College and San Juan College where she is working toward her Veterinary Technology degree. Rachel is now what we call a veterinary nurse and will one day soon also be an RVT. As if she wasn't busy enough, between work and school she also finds time to volunteers at Andrews Rescue Squad where she is also working on her medical responder certification. She has a German Shepherd named Buck and 2 fish that keep her company at home. Rachel also is crazy about pink and believes everything needs more glitter!
Beth has been working in the veterinary field for 18 years and loves what she does. She is originally from Florida but moved here with her husband and son about 8 years ago. She brings diversity to AVH as she is cross trained in small animal, large animal and exotic pets. Beth has a small menagerie of pets including 7 cats, 2 dogs, a turtle, a dumbo rat and many fish. Outside of work Beth likes to hike, fish, bike, read and garden.
Arnold is the resident house cat and "head cat in charge". We are hopelessly trying to get him to lose weight against his wishes. He acts as the blood donor for our feline patients and has saved many lives. He spends most of his time on the front desk, greeting our clients.
Edison is Arnold's canine partner in crime. He is a walker hound mix and he loves coming to work with his mom Leah every day.
